A new study reveals that men are often the victims of sexual assault, and women are often the perpetrators. The National Crime Victimization Survey turned up a remarkable statistic. In asking 40,000 households about rape and sexual violence, the survey uncovered that 38 percent of incidents were against men. In years past men had accounted for somewhere between 5 and 14 percent of rape and sexual violence victims. Our old model of men solely being the victimizers must change. We can clearly see this in the amount of statutory rapes that are happening between female teachers and their underage students.

The sexual assault language has often been male gender specific like forcible rape, and though the language has changed it must change further to include all kinds of sexual assault between male and female perpetrators. The language must change concerning sexual assault. The mere presence of physiological symptoms associated with arousal does not in fact indicate actual arousal, much less willing participation. And the high degree of depression and dysfunction among male victims of sexual abuse backs this up.

A recent analysis of BJS data, for example, turned up that 46 percent of male victims reported a female perpetrator. Women were more likely to be abused by fellow female inmates, and men by guards, and many of those guards were female. For example, of juveniles reporting staff sexual misconduct, 89 percent were boys reporting abuse by a female staff member. In total, inmates reported an astronomical 900,000 incidents of sexual abuse.

We have seen how this can happen to black men by white men in movies like Obsessed, Netflix’s IO, Goodbye Uncle Tom and others. As sexual immorality increases and the woman takes on a more masculine role, this perpetration will only increase. Save yourself from this untoward generation. As a boy or man do not be afraid to shine the light on any girl or woman who is taking advantage of you sexually. Rape is Rape. No one should have to be a victim. Report it. Report it. Report it.
